CHICAGO -- Alex Rodriguez stepped up to the plate greeted by a standing boo-vation and blooped a single in his first at-bat of the season. Hours after Major League Baseball suspended the New York Yankees star through the 2014 season in the Biogenesis drug case, Chicago White Sox fans got their say Monday night. And, boy, did they let him hear it. They jeered him during pregame warmups and introductions, and they really tore into him when he walked to the batter's box leading off the second inning. On the third pitch, Rodriguez dunked a hit into shallow left field. He made it to third base with no outs, but was stranded. Rodriguez flied out in his next two at-bats and then took a called third

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R), having made a dreadful mess of his home state, isn’t sticking around to clean it up. The Kansas City Star reported: Gov. Sam Brownback will give up the governor’s mansion in Topeka to take a relatively obscure ambassadorship after seeing his power and popularity severely diminished in the last year. The Kansas Legislature overrode Brownback’s veto to repeal his signature tax cuts a little more than a month before President Donald Trump selected him to serve as the next ambassador at-large for international religious freedom, a position based in Washington, D.C., where Brownback spent 16 years as a member of the U.S. House and Senate. By Asif Shahzad ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistani police have arrested 25 members of an informal village council accused of ordering the rape of a 16-year-old girl as revenge for her brother's alleged sexual assault of another girl. The Supreme Court also requested a report on the case, which echoed a notorious case from 2002 in which another teenager was gang-raped on a local council's order. "A total of 29 people were involved in this ghastly crime, and we have 25 of them in our custody," Multan City Police Officer Ahsan Younus told Reuters by telephone on Thursday.
The slip dress may be the biggest dress revival to come out of the ’90s (for good reason, as it’s incredibly versatile and super-easy to wear), but another style from the earlier part of the decade is having a moment: button-front dresses. You know what we’re talking about. You probably wore one in a family photo or teamed one with combat boots during your grunge phase. It was likely a floral print, and you may or may not cringe at the sight of it now. Same. But new versions of the dress are flooding the market, making us see the once-outdated style with fresh, enthusiastic eyes. Cut in a range of silhouettes that include flippy minis and maxi lengths to precious sleeves and simple tank straps, the only really nostalgic part of this look is the button detailing. Go ahead and throw it on with a fuss-free sandal and cute straw bag and you’ll be ready to roll (just don’t pair it with Dr. Martens and a straw hat à la Blossom). You might've noticed Daenerys Targaryen acting a little too extra on the last episode Game of Thrones, appropriately titled "Stormborn." First, the rain pissed her off. Then Tyrion made it worse by not letting her be pissy about it. Varys chafed her even more for the crime of just standing there, to the point where she threatens to burn him alive. Finally Melisandre arrived, offering to arrange a potentially vital alliance to her mission - to which Dany responded with contempt, impatience, and the royal equivalent of a temper tantrum. SEE ALSO: These 7 'Game of Thrones' trailer moments mean more than you think Dany is acting erratic. And remember, this episode's opening scenes were actually our
